So Friday night was supposed to be gaming, but we failed at gaming and succeeded at talking about Madrigal for 3 hours. Was a fun time anyway, and then I headed home early-ish so that I'd be somewhat rested for the NERO one-day on Sat.
( the one-day )
Both
sarrciano and I were somewhat broken on Sunday. We failed at sleeping in, puttered around all morning, and then met
thedeviantangel for lunch, after which we went to her place to hang out for a bit and talk NERO/Madrigal. Then we went home to watch the end of the game (go Pats) and do more decompressing. Was nice to have a day off. :)

I had a good weekend. Not enough sleep, bit too much rain, but considering it's mid-November, not really going to complain too much about the weather. It stayed warm enough most of the weekend that the wet wasn't debilitating.
( Highlights that I can share. )
Relatively unharmed after this weekend, probably because I did so little fighting and so much talking. Nice bruise on one of my knees, though, probably from when I went from running to dead on the ground in .5 seconds. More tired than usual, though.

And thank you to all who served or do serve.
I had a good pre-madrigal weekend. Friday night was devoted to hanging out, watching TV, and putting together most of a dress. Not a Madrigal dress, but it was good to get it done (well, mostly done, I finished it on Sunday). Love my serger.
Sat I went to visit
ezrem and see her new house and new kitties. OMG so cute! (The kittens, not the house. House was fine, though.)
callierat and Gent were also both there, and we hung out, played with kitties, and watched bad movies while making fun of them.
After that, drove to
dunriver's place for a mini-plot meeting, which was both fun and productive. Doooooom. :) Ahem, fun and productive.
Sunday I failed to sleep in.
sarrciano and I did some hanging out, then we headed to
thedeviantangel's place for hanging out before she and I went to do more trying-on of bridesmaid dresses and
sarrciano stayed behind for a plot meeting. When we got out, she,
quentarielf and I went out for lunch at a sushi place, then
thedeviantangel and I went back to my place to kill some time. I introduced her to Avatar and we hung out more before heading back to her place once the plot meeting was done. More fun hanging out, before we headed home, at which point I became inexplicably exhausted and went to bed around 9PM.
Hope I'm not coming down with something.

Am excited for a number of things. Madrigal looks to be very cool, assuming we can pull off most of what we're planning. Staff for that game is such a cool group of people.
I think I had some crazy dreams last night where I was doing something (it was sort of like some super-complicated mod, set in a modern spy/war-like setting), except the person I was playing against was
tommarz, which had me very, very nervous. So Volta staff has officially gotten to my subconscious. :glares:
Am looking forward to this weekend. No larping, though I expect much of the weekend will be taken up by larping talk. Want to do some sewing Friday night with some fabric I just got in, maybe get together with people Sat, and stuff with
thedeviantangel on Sunday. Looking forward to actually sleeping in and not running around with foam weapons for a weekend.

Had a pretty busy weekend.
Friday night was gaming (while I braided my hair). Our group is actually together and has a purpose, which is a plus. Overall it was just a really fun time, although I had to bow out a bit early so I could get home and go to bed so I'd get a full night of sleep before Volta the next day.
Saturday was ( Volta )
Sunday we slept all the way until 8AM (well, 9AM without the time change, which is a little more acceptable), hung around for a while, then went to a pig roast, where we talked about larping (mostly), played with fire, ate pig, put out fires on the lawn, and then sat around a fire and talked for a long while.

Couple of quick things. First of all, I'm feeling much much better (with regards to my back). Nearly am at 100%, with only an occasional twinge to remind me of it. I was completely combat-active at Pirates this weekend, and while I took it a bit easy when I had to bend in certain directions, I didn't have any problems, aside from a minor ache when I'd been standing for a very long time.
Car passed inspection yesterday, that's one less thing to worry about.
My brother called me last night, sounds tired but like he's doing OK (had some bad stuff happen recently, is in the process of recovering). He got to hear about all my hijinks at the hospital (we share a dislike of needles, though he's worse than I am).
Hmm... other than that, I sort of need to finish making a character for a game I'm playing on Friday night (before Volta on Sat). Weather for Sat looks... pretty decent, if it actually holds for another few days. We'll see.
Need to do laundry. No joke.

Pirates event was fun. I would have been happier had there been less rain and less cold, but really, it wasn't too bad and it cleared up very nicely late Sat night/Sunday morning, so I can't complain too much. There was this hilarious situation where most of the people on my crew brought various cold-weather costuming we had for other games and played a game of musical clothes, since none of us went to the trouble of making tons of cold-weather costuming for these characters. So just about everything we wore has been seen before on some character, just most of it hadn't been seen on the player who was wearing it. :)
( more details about the actual event, rather than just the weather )
So... the story has ended. We won, mostly. It hasn't quite sunk in yet that I won't get to play Mary again. I'll miss her. She was one of my odder characters, but fun to play. I will especially miss my crew, who were all awesome and rolled with me insulting them left and right and didn't take it personally. I do hope that they run a Pirates 2 someday, but if not, at least I can picture my crew all bitching at each other as they sail off into the sunset. (Towing one boat with another.)

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Well, we had a cool meeting last night, so naturally, that triggered Madrigal anxiety dreams. I actually slept really well until my left calf randomly decided to tie itself into knots, at which point I woke up and demonstrated that my back really is much better by nearly jack-knifing myself out of bed as I reached for my calf. I fell back asleep pretty quickly, but then started a weird dream of trying to hook PCs, except I was in the wrong costuming, so I told them to wait for me in the bottom of this empty pool (like a really cool pool with natural stone and all these weird separations, but really - wait at the bottom of a pool?). There was the usual stuff of not being able to find costuming, and then some really, really weird stuff about it being really warm and there being a bit of flooding and trying to swim to my encounter while holding something out of the water as the docks were submerged. Edit: Amusingly, I wasn't at all upset about this, it was just one more thing I had to do before I could do my mod.
Really, this one was a bit on the bizarre end, even for me.

I had an interesting weekend, starting at about 9:15 AM on Friday. This will be a long entry.

So I found out that there are now skins for the avatars so you can make them non-human colors. Which makes it easier to make some of my NPCs.

Well, Madrigal is done. I hurt in more places than I want to think about (and my right arm is nearly entirely non-functional at this point), and I know my brain isn't functional.
Some of my highlights:
- the looks on faces all around me as Gwen dragged a live werewolf into town. There was shock, confusion, a bit of horror (mostly on the faces of those who didn't know it was Gwen and thought it was a pale hunter), and the utter glee on the faces of those I'd come to hook.
- the insect fight. :) :whistles innocently:
- the through-the-gate mod I helped out with
- the Anaketh song that got sung in the middle of town. I can't claim any responsibility for that, it just sounded really, really cool.
- getting to see Rob in his king of Trechelle getup
- walking up to a group of PCs with a couple of chicken legs dangling from a string, holding them out, and saying, "I thought I should bring something. But I got hungry and ate the rest."
- the look someone gave me after he recovered some papers for me, asked if he could read them, getting a confused look and a hesitant nod in return, and then realizing that the notes he'd just shoved in his pouch were all in code.
- all the rp with the PCs as the grey princess. Just a lot of fun moments. And then getting to hear the entire story of how parts of that encounter went better than we could have ever hoped for/planned due to plain old luck. Awesome.
- getting the coolest journal ever. I showed everyone in monster camp it, and then spent the rest of the time I had in monster camp playing with it for the rest of the weekend.
- having a couple of really 'on' moments in the fight Sunday morning. I mean 'on' considering that I could barely walk by then.
There was other stuff, of course, that was also cool, but you'll just have to take my word for it.
And now I think I will go take a nap. Or watch tv and drink tea. Or make myself some tea, and then fall asleep while trying to watch TV on the couch.

So I now have a cool new mask, costuming for my various characters, more tags than I can shake a stick at, several cool encounters I'm looking forward to (and several more that I can't wait to hear about from other people), and last night I finally got to hear from someone on my team what's going on at Aralis. Eeee! Excited for everything. Probably should focus on Madrigal first.
Happy birthday to
inadvertantsmut! Hope that you have a fun day!
Other than that, the weekend was fairly low-key for me. Friday night I drove out to visit my parents. We had dinner at the hibachi restaurant that my dad discovered (so very good), and then went back to their place and watched some Avatar and talked. Fun stuff.
Sat day was mostly devoted to various sewing projects I needed to get done for Madrigal, and trying to find a way to get a mask in time. The first project I'd already bought fabric for, and it went very quickly and smoothly. The second... hmmm. The second I wasn't sure what I wanted to look like, which is sort of a crucial first step in making a costume. The trip to Joann's took way longer than it should have, due to me spending over an hour just wandering up and down the aisles trying to find something that looked right and would spark the creative juices. Must have picked up and then returned a dozen different bolts of cloth before I found something that I wasn't thrilled with, but I thought might work. I went home and started cutting along the lines I thought I wanted, along with some adaptations. When I stitched it together, however, I ended up with a shape I was not expecting, but one that I liked. I went with it, and even though some of the decorations I tried didn't work out and had to be removed, I think I'm overall pleased with it.
Sat evening,
sarrciano and
draketamarack came down from NH to pick me up, and then we headed to visit
trickyskricky, who was up visiting from down south (along with a bunch of other people). Was a very fun time, just hanging out and (mostly) talking about larping while watching people play video games. Oh, had some great tea, too.
Sunday was devoted to not moving much. I finished up a couple of chainmail jewelry projects, and attempted to put some decorations on the outfit I made the day before, but it didn't work very well, so I ended up ripping it off. Watched (well, in spurts) the Pats game, and some other stuff. Just very low key and relaxing, which is good before the larping marathon that's coming up.

Had a pretty good weekend at Volta. My only complaint is the weather Sat night which had me pretty physically miserable, which was in no way the fault of the staff, so that's a pretty good weekend overall.
( some highlights )
Unfortunately, I'm a bit sick today, so I called in to work. I have big plans to drink a lot of tea and rest, and hopefully I'll be better by tomorrow.
