The plan started going awry when I got off the highway. Two turns off of it, one of the major roads I need to use to get to my parents' house is closed, due to the foot and a half of flowing water covering it. Hmmm. Don't really know any other ways to get to their house from this direction. I mean, I used to, when I lived there, but it's been almost 4 years since that, and now I only remember the main way to go. So I drive around for a half hour, within a mile and a half from the house, unable to find a way to it. Finally, I do.
Get into house fine. Head downstairs to the basement to grab stuff and... squelch squelch squelch. Carpet isn't supposed to make that noise. And my parents are up in Maine on vacation. Shoot.
Spent the next several hours on the phone with my parents and several other people, putting down towels and handing keys to neighbors and waiting for the guy to show up with the water vacume to get rid of the water, in an attempt to keep my parents in Maine on vacation. I was ultimately unsuccessful at that, because my dad really wants to see the damage (I think it's minimal) himself. But I did try. :sigh:

After work, I drove to the store to buy some beer for a party I'm going to. It was the first time in my life that I've actually purchased beer. (Yes, I'm wierd.)
Two minutes later, I got in a fender-bender while trying to drive said beer home. (Very minor, no damage to car or self.) First one I've been in in two years.
Am amused.

ryxander! Hope that you have a fun day and that there are no major disasters to be averted.Weekend was fun and low-key, which was just about what I needed. Friday I sat around like a lump and worked on chainmaile necklaces.
Saturday, more of the same in the morning. In the afternoon drove down to hang out with
callierat and chat and do more chainmaile while watching her work on leather masks. Lots of fun, lots of larp talk. Good times. After that I drove up to Randy's for the bardic. I failed at music, sadly, but that was because I was so busy talking to people that I didn't realize how late it had gotten until I glanced at my watch and realized that I should head home before it became late enough that I was unsafe to drive.Sunday
sarrciano and I mostly hung around and watched some shows on DVR. (Oh, and I finally managed to do some laundry, which did not get done the week before because I am lazy.) Plans to go for a walk outside were frustrated by the miserable drizzle-weather, but I shall survive the disappointment. For dinner we drove into Boston proper to meet my parents, a few cousins and other relatives at Fire and Ice. Nice to catch up with people, and fun to introduce them to F&I. Good weekend.( Went to Pirate Island this weekend. )
Also managed to get in half-chaps for this weekend so I'll have vaguely-ok looking 'boots', given that I completely refuse to use my awesome-looking-yet-actively-trying-to-k

trickyskricky, I may have a present for you.The one really odd thing that happened was on the way home from my parents' place, got pulled over by a cop. One of my headlights is out. Sad, but not that big a deal. I am getting a warning. He goes to run my plates and license to make sure everything is in order before he lets me go. He comes back up, hands me the warning, and asks if I was in the area last night. Um... no, I drove out this morning to visit my parents. Was I in the hospital last night? No, I was not. Is my mother OK? Yes, she's fine, I saw her today. At least, she was fine fifteen minutes ago when I last saw her.
Finally he explains that some woman was in a car accident yesterday and left the hospital with an IV still in her, and they're on the lookout for her, and she happens to share my last name. Nice that they're being thorough about this, but I was thoroughly confused for a few minutes there.
